An organization that recognizes the value of data and uses artificial intelligence to deliver some of their services and programs highly efficiently and at a large scale.
Find out what problems you would like to solve using AI.
Additionally, an organization will need to find out which data sources are available.
A short, initial innovation project is required to find the best way to solve the problem.
This demonstrates the value of an AI solution both internally and externally.
The proof of concept is brought into production for the use by stakeholders to generate value.
The NGO starts a larger project to build up internal capacities like technical skills and to foster stakeholder collaboration, communication and problem-solving.

“Up till now, we have worked with more than 150 AI engineers to do innovation sprints and develop prototypes in a matter of months. Already, our first Omdena AI project secured funding from our donors. I am a big fan and we are on our fifth project.” – Kathleen Buckingham, Senior Manager, Data & Innovation, World Resources Institute
WRI hosted an Omdena Innovation Challenge where 50 collaborators built a prototype to identify land use conflicts and match mediating government policies. The innovation project was well-received and secured funding for follow-up projects.
WRI has been hosting multiple Challenges across domains such as climate change, land conflicts, policy-making, and more. In addition, WRI is leveraging Omdena Talent to develop production-level solutions.
Omdena and WRI´s teams are working closely together where we give access to our knowledge base and tool partnerships. This provides WRI´s staff not only a deep-dive into AI applications but also valuable skills to manage and execute real-world projects successfully.

Omdena is partnered with the Asia Foundation in Nepal to improve the availability of credible information and diverse narratives in media, focusing on women, youth, and marginalized (WYM) issues. The project will analyze mainstream media, social media, and Nepali radio content using quantitative methods to measure diversity and representation. Omdena will use AI modeling techniques like NLP and machine learning to develop language models for Nepali, classify WYM-related media content, and rate it based on diversity and reliable representation.
“The diversity of knowledge coming from Omdena’s collaborators is amazing! Various techniques within deep learning and machine learning techniques in their “toolbox”.” – Omran NAJJAR, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team
