Understanding the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon Using NLP

Challenge Started!

This Omdena Local Chapter Challenge runs for 4 weeks and is a unique experience to try and grow your skills in a collaborative and safe environment with a diverse mix of people from all over the world.

You will work on solving a local problem, initiated by the Omdena Cameroon Chapter.

The problem

Studies were conducted in the hope of better understanding the problem in order to find a solution as soon as possible. There has also been a call for dialogue and improvement. Therefore, we would like to analyze the conversations about this crisis on the Internet to find out what they will reveal to us.

The goals

  • Collect online data on the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon.
  • Create a knowledge graph of conversations about the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon.
  • Create a list of the most important keywords in these conversations and the parties involved in the form of a “Who is talking” to identify those involved in the conversations.
  • Understand what networks exist in the data and finally map the parties involved in the conversations. Identify the communities formed and dynamically visualize their evolution.
