Omdena Joins EIT Climate-KIC’s Adaptation Innovation Cluster to Drive AI-Powered Climate Solutions in Tanzania

EIT Climate-KIC, Europe’s leading climate innovation agency, and community, has launched an ambitious initiative in Tanzania: the Adaptation Innovation Cluster.

This initiative aims to bolster climate resilience and sustainable development by supporting locally developed adaptation solutions for rural communities. By fostering collaboration among diverse partners, including Irish Aid, Anza Entrepreneurs, Westerwelle Foundation, Sahara Ventures, ELICO Foundation the cluster seeks to create an enabling environment that promotes climate innovations, stimulates green start-up growth, and fosters employment and investment.

Omdena, a global collaborative AI platform, is proud to be part of this impactful endeavor. With a mission to address real-world challenges through artificial intelligence, Omdena leverages a global network of data scientists, engineers, and domain experts. Their diverse portfolio of projects spans critical domains, including climate resilience, education, deforestation monitoring, and media classification. Omdena strives to create impactful solutions that drive positive change worldwide by harnessing AI’s power.

As a technical supporter within the Adaptation Innovation Cluster, Omdena will play a pivotal role in designing a “Climathon”. This programme for citizen activation will empower local Tanzanian talent to develop innovative ideas that address climate impact, leveraging the latest AI technology.

The Climathon will unfold in three phases:

  1. Ideation and Problem Definition: Tanzanian participants will collaborate to identify pressing climate challenges and define problem statements.
  2. AI Solution Development: Omdena’s global network of experts will work closely with local talents to design and develop AI-powered solutions tailored to Tanzania’s unique context.
  3. Implementation and Impact: The selected solutions will be piloted and deployed, creating tangible positive effects on climate resilience and community well-being.
