Three-phased Capacity Building Program

Phase 1: Building Foundations – 12-Week Introduction to AI Course

In the beginning, the students, irrespective of their previous experience in programming, data science, or AI, will embark on foundational courses. These courses are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding, guiding them through a systematic process of theoretical knowledge acquisition. The journey begins with learning programming languages, followed by an introduction to Python libraries, data visualization, exploratory data analysis techniques, machine learning applications, natural language processing, and computer vision. Execution of Capacity Building Program at the University of Ladakh

The successful completion of the Capacity Building Program at the University of Ladakh is a noteworthy achievement, symbolizing the culmination of efforts in advancing education in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) within the region. The collaborative initiative between Omdena Academy and the University has equipped students with essential practical skills and real-world problem-solving capabilities.

This 6-month certificate course, executed through a well-structured curriculum, featured four months of comprehensive teaching and training, followed by a two-month practical project Automating Glacier Mapping of Ladakh using Satellite Imagery. The goals of this challenge are to create a knowledge base of the water-related problems faced by the local communities of Ladakh. Build an open-source GIS dashboard for the glaciers of Ladakh. – Set up a data retrieval API for satellite images. The program’s design ensured a rich learning experience, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on application to prepare students for the dynamic landscape of AI. The participants of the program were not only the students of University of Ladakh but also professionals, faculty and staff members from other region of the Ladakh and Kashmir as well. Throughout the execution of the program, provided students the opportunities to apply their acquired skills to real-world challenges. The commitment to mobilizing necessary resources further enriched the learning environment, contributing to the success of the initiative.
