[Philippines Chapter] Mapping Urban Vulnerability areas (Crimes, Disasters, etc.) using Open Source Data

Local Chapter Laguna, Philippines Chapter , Malolos, Philippines Chapter

Coordinated by Philippines ,

Project background.

Philippines is situated on the Ring of Fire in Western Pacific, that makes the country vulnerable in earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, typhoons, mudslides and landslides. According to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, the Philippines is one of the “most storm-exposed countries on Earth,” experiencing between 18 and 20 typhoons annually, though this number appears to be increasing over time (“Philippines Disaster Preparedness” 2021).
