Project background.

Due to the rapid growth of technology in many sectors, such as artificial intelligence and the internet of things, new skills, and knowledge are required for a future profession in this digital and disruptive era. Careers in the future will most certainly demand talents that are not just taught in schools or general training programs, but also require soft skills to supplement employees’ skills. They must also improve their abilities in a variety of ways as part of the lifelong learning process.

For less-oriented students, pursuing the right career in a tertiary institution in order to acquire work is a difficult undertaking. Likewise getting a suitable job after graduation is also considered difficult for them, especially if they lack the skills needed.

The problem.

With the popularization of western education in the secondary school system, Lagos’ educational system has evolved from the era of vocational training to the stage of universal education. Still, the number of unemployable graduates continues to rise. Many students are currently under immense pressure to find work due to a lack of applicable skills in the market due to poor career choices.

Project goals.

- Create a career suggestion machine learning model using the available public dataset. - Give information about how the student population in Lagos State is distributed across the country. - Based on public data, make recommendations for areas in which students should improve in order to eliminate a lack of preparation and bad career choices for tertiary institutions.
